Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) has decided to redevelop Mapusa Residency by handing it over to a private entity, for elevating it to three-star hotel standards, infused with the vibrant spirit of the locale while offering modern amenities
GTDC is offering 5,203 sq. mtrs. of land in Mapusa, including all assets, so that a private player can come in and operate a new city hotel for a period of 30 to 60 years. The new entity will be allowed to build a fresh structure with 200 percent FAR. Once complete, the new hotel could feature a swimming pool, fitness studio and even a multiplex. The concessionaire will develop, operate and maintain a three-star or higher city hotel with a minimum of 40 rooms, along with a multi-cuisine restaurant and a banquet hall for events
GTDC expects the private player to complete reconstruction of Mapusa Residency within one and half years of the signing of concession agreement, and the city hotel to immediately start operations. Mapusa Residency has 48 rooms with a banquet hall, an AC conference hall, parking space for 25 vehicles, a restaurant and space for retail outlets
GTDC has adopted the public private partnership route. It had earlier moved to redevelop Colva Residency, Anjuna, Mayem Lake View, Britona Riverside, Miramar Residency and others through the PPP model. An empowered committee will monitor the tender process and the signing of the concession agreement. Single entities and consortiums can participate in the bidding process
